Question 1

What is CampusRaven?

Accepted Answer

CampusRaven is a college planning platform where students can discover schools, track applications, get AI-powered recommendations, and share progress with parents and advisors, all in one place.

Question 2

How is CampusRaven different from Naviance or Scoir?

Accepted Answer

Naviance and Scoir are sold to schools and districts. CampusRaven is direct-to-consumer, designed for students whose schools don't provide a platform, and for independent educational consultants who manage their own student rosters. CampusRaven is also AI-first, with personalized college recommendations built in.

Question 3

Who is CampusRaven for?

Accepted Answer

High school juniors and seniors researching colleges, their parents who want visibility into the process, and independent educational consultants (advisors) who manage multiple students.

Question 4

Is there a free version?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Free plan includes 2,000+ college profiles, basic search, deadline tracking, a senior year timeline, a FAFSA checklist, up to 3 saved colleges, and family messaging with document sharing. Student Plus unlocks AI recommendations, unlimited college saves, and essay uploads, with advisor collaboration available on Premium.

Question 5

How does AI recommendation work?

Accepted Answer

Based on your GPA, SAT/ACT scores, interests, intended major, location preferences, and budget, CampusRaven suggests colleges that match your profile with Dream, Target, and Safety designations. Available on Student Plus and Student Premium plans.

Question 6

Can my essays be uploaded?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on the Student Premium plan. Essay drafts are private to you unless you explicitly share them with a linked advisor.

Question 7

How do I link a parent?

Accepted Answer

Go to My Profile and add their email address under the "Parent emails" field. They'll receive a notification and can sign up to view your college list and milestones through the Parent Portal.

Question 8

Can I cancel anytime?

Accepted Answer

Yes, anytime. Your cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep access until then.

Question 9

Can I message my parent?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Once you've linked a parent, you can message them directly inside CampusRaven, no advisor needed. Open Messages from the menu, or use 'Message my parent' on your dashboard. You can attach files to a message too, so you can share documents back and forth.

Question 10

How do I see my student's progress?

Accepted Answer

Your student must add your email to their Parent emails field in My Profile. Once linked, you can log in and see their saved colleges, upcoming deadlines, milestones, and more in the Parent Portal. The Parent Portal now also shows your student's upcoming deadlines, application progress, and an affordability snapshot, alongside their college list and tasks.

Question 11

Can I edit my student's data?

Accepted Answer

Parents have read-only access to most fields. Students retain full edit control over their own profile, college list, and essays.

Question 12

Can I purchase a subscription for my student?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can use your own payment method to purchase a Student Plus or Student Premium plan on your student's behalf. Contact us at support@campusraven.com if you need help.

Question 13

Can I message my student and share documents?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Once your student is linked, you can message them from your Parent Portal or the Messages tab, no advisor required. Any file attached to a message is collected in a shared Files list inside the conversation, so documents like essays or financial-aid forms never get lost in the thread.

Question 14

What's included in advisor plans?

Accepted Answer

Advisor plans give you one dashboard for your whole caseload (10 to 50 student seats, depending on tier). See every student's overdue and upcoming tasks, assign tasks with due dates, follow each college list, review essays and documents, keep meeting logs and private notes, share a read-only Parent Portal with parent-only notes, and message students and parents in bulk. Growth and Pro add family invoicing.

Question 15

Is there a free trial for advisors?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every advisor can start a 14-day free trial with up to 3 students and no credit card. Start it from the For advisors page; if you like it, pick Starter, Growth or Pro before the trial ends.

Question 16

Do my students need their own accounts?

Accepted Answer

Yes, each student gets their own login, but they're included in your advisor seat count, so there's no separate charge per student.

Question 17

Can school counselors use CampusRaven?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Advisor Pro covers up to 50 students. For larger caseloads or a counseling team, email support@campusraven.com about an Enterprise plan. Assistants and essay specialists can join your team on any plan at no extra charge.

Question 18

How is my data protected?

Accepted Answer

We use HTTPS on all connections, hash passwords using industry-standard algorithms, and enforce server-side row-level security so each user only sees their own data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Question 19

Can I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Yes, use "Delete My Account" under My Profile's Privacy & Data section, or email support@campusraven.com. We'll permanently remove all your data within 30 days of your request.

Question 20

Can I export my data?

Accepted Answer

Yes, use "Export My Data" under My Profile's Privacy & Data section to download a JSON file of your college list, essays, and profile, or email support@campusraven.com and we'll send it within 30 days.

Question 21

Who can see my essays and notes?

Accepted Answer

Only you, unless you've explicitly linked an advisor to your account, in which case they can view and comment on documents you share with them.
